Choose “Actual size” or “Fit to page”, never “Scale to fit media” — that one crops the drawing at the edges without telling you.
Plain copier paper is fine for pencils. Markers need at least 100 gsm, ideally 120, or the colour comes through onto the next sheet.
Economy and draft settings thin the lines until alcohol markers escape through them. Print these at normal quality, black ink only.
The standard mandala is a geometric exercise, and after four of them you have essentially coloured the same page four times. These are built differently — the repeating unit is an object, so the ring you are working around is made of cups, or books, or pine cones, and each ring has its own logic to follow.
Symmetry is what makes a mandala restful, and it is also a shortcut. Choose a colour for one segment, then repeat it at the opposite point of the circle rather than working around the ring in order. The page balances itself and you spend far less time deciding.
These are the sheets to use if you colour to stop thinking. There is no scene to interpret, no light source to be consistent about, and nothing you can get wrong. A single sheet with three pencils is a genuinely different activity from a detailed shopfront, and some evenings it is the one you want.
